This book tells several tales, and the title is a little misleading. For it is far less about Emily and far more about the important people in Emily's young life. At points it comes across as a little preachy and is not subtle in its message about mental health for all ages, and yet it offers these up on an emotional palate that will touch your heart and soul. In the end, you may not want to be Emily, but you will wish you were one of the main characters in this wonderful cast.

This is a beautiful book. I absolutely loved it! It is a warm, inspirational story, which leaves you feeling more grateful for love and family. An older man wishes to be remembered as more than an ailing old man. He realizes the greatest gift he can pass on is the wisdom of his years, the jumbled mix of experiences and emotions that add up to a life. So, he compiles a book of his poems for his favorite granddaughter, Emily.

I thought this was going to be a sad story about a grandpa dying from alzheimers. It was not that kind of story at all. This is a heartwarming story about being a parent, about being a spouse, about loving your family, about hurting and being hurt by those you love and ultimately about forgiveness. The letters Harry wrote to Emily are fun & loving & hold clues to life.

Harry Whitney is dying. He has Alzheimer's disease, and he knows his "good" time is dwindling. So he compiles a book of poems for his favorite granddaughter, Emily, hoping that his words of hard-won wisdom will heal the old wounds that are tearing his family apart. But Harry's poems contain much more than meets the eye-- clues and riddles that lead to an extraordinary cache of letters and a promise of hidden gold. As Emily and her family uncover Harry's secrets one by one, they learn unforgettable lessons about romance, forgiveness and hope that might hold them all together.
It's an exceptional story, gleaming with goodness and hope.

A very sweet story about Grandpa Harry who leaves a book of letters for his granddaughter Emily. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio book, Camron Wright (author) wrote this story with credible characters and story line. It definitely helped pass time while driving a long commute these last couple of weeks in June! :-) A definite heartwarming and tender story.

Dying man writes letters to his granddaughter that reveal his past & life lessons to live by. Very moving at times. The outcome & effect that these letters produce is heart warming. A good, quick read.

Afflicted with Alzheimer's disease this is a heart warming story of a grandpa and his wisdom shared thru "his good times in his poems".Lovely story.
This book is about a grandpa that brings a family back together with a book of poems and writings that lead to meaningful letters written to his granddaughter Emily. But are the letters really just for Emmily? Heartfelt book, easy read.
This book was very touching. I really enjoying reading it.
I thought it started off a little slow but then towards the middle the meaning was very insightful and truly touching. Would definately recommend this to someone that likes happy endings.

this book is very good!!
A very heartwarming, inspirational story about love of family.
Wonderful story
LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!
My overall impression was MEH. No character development whatsoever. Extremely short read; I finished in about 2 days. The build-up to the ending was uneventful and predictable. I gave it 3 stars because it was based on his own grandfather's stories. It didn't move me in any way, but a short somewhat entertaining read. Only if you have the time to spare.
This book is so good I ordered it in book, Audio book and casette form to share with our families! I just love how the stories written in this book are for the grandaughter and yet, it is all revelent to us all! Wonderful book everyone should read and great advice for all of us!
wonderful book very heart warming!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It started out a little slow with not much meaning, but then all the meaning that was brought forth towards the end was very special,
What a great and fast read. A really Wonderful book.
I liked the book so much I had my daughter read it. She too thought it was a special kind of story. It is hard to lose a relationship with a grandparent, but the letters the grandfather writes helps to unite the entire family.
Great heart warming book. Life is more than money and possessions. Quick easy read. Good book to read at anytime not just Christmas!
