Highly recommended reading....written in the form of letters from the author to an elderly lady living in India who has revealed to the author that she actually was born in Hungary into a Jewish family. In order to protect her from the rabid anti-semitism of the early 20th Century, she was raised without learning much of the history of her people. His letters to her are his way of giving her a short history of the Jewish People.
