Truly the most hilarious book I've ever read...laugh out loud funny, even in public you can't stop laughing. This book came along just when my life was way too serious. It is definitely going on my keeper bookshelf. Do yourself a favor and lighten up your world by reading this fabulous book. Jenny Lawson is fabulous...now I am also addicted to her blog. Warning: She is irreverent and has a potty mouth - in all the appropriate ways.

Truly one of the funniest books I've ever read, Let's Pretend This Never Happened is listed among my all-time favorite reads. I'm not usually a memoir reader--I tend to go for romantic fiction--but I couldn't ignore the amazing reviews this book got. The cover turned me off a bit--took me several times coming across the book before I finally decided to give it a chance and wow, I'm glad I did. Full of humor, drama, unbelievable stories and a cute real-life love story, Jenny Lawson's book was hard to put down. I have never laughed so hard while reading a book--I laughed so hard I cried. I laughed so hard that people kept asking me what was so funny and I'd laugh too hard to explain. I laughed two days later, just THINKING about something I read in this book. And I laughed until my family lost their patience with me (because of the noise I was making) so I had to finish the book when I was sure I was alone. Read this book only if you love irreverent, disrespectful, hilarious women who stretch the truth, swear like sailors, and aren't afraid to share every little detail (way beyond 'too much information') of their roller-coaster life. I LOVED this book. It's a keeper.

* * * *. Autobiography. An emotionally unstable blogger shares stories of her eccentric childhood, coming of age and getting married.
Unapologetically dark twisted humor; this book is not for everyone. You will burst out in guffaws and then ask yourself "Why did I laugh at that? That's not funny, its crazy."
Yes, this book is crazy, and so is the author. Great read.

Hilarious, relatable, and cringe-worthy stories. I laughed out loud so many times while I was reading, people must have thought I was losing it.
We all have stories from our lives that we'd like to forget. This book reminds us that these very same stories are what makes us who we are, and we should (try) and appreciate all of our weird and embarrassing stories of growing up, being an "adult", and beyond. Great read!

This book is hilarious! It made me laugh out loud (at work) so many times...I can't believe that stuff really happened to her. But even if it didn't, she tells a great story!
OMG - why isn't there a NO stars option? Author should never have read her own audiobook... that nasal whine has you rooting for the opposition almost from the get-go. You HAVE to have SOME sort of sympathy/empathy for the protagonist in a book of this sort, and Lawson simply generates NONE. Of EITHER. Annoying, she should be working in customer service somewhere.
Lots of laugh out loud moments in this book. Definitely what I needed after reading so many dark thrillers. I highly recommend this one.
Truly laugh out loud funny. Jenny has a talent for telling a story. I would recommend this book to anyone!
The author is blunt and hilarious when describing times in her life. Not done with the book yet, but it is certainly a funny read!
It takes a strong person to share her most embarrassing moments with complete strangers. Lawson does so in a heart-to-heart, but dont-pity-me sort of way. I wanted to include the quotes that made me laugh or reflect on my life the most, but I just highlighted way too many to include here. Ill just include the one that sums up the book and Lawsons way of approaching life: you are not defined by lifes imperfect moments, but by your reaction to them. Because there is joy in embracing- rather than running screaming from- the utter absurdity of life.
My biggest takeaway from reading this book: Accept that your dad marches to the beat of a different drum, hug him, and thank him for not waking you up in the middle of the night to entertain you with a dead squirrel puppet show. Thanks, Pop!
