This was an average cozy for me - I wouldn't seek out another in the series. I think I shy away from Cozies with a mystical bent...Emerald O'Brien, owner of the Chintz 'n' china Tea Room is also a medium who offers her customers tarot card readings. A client leaves Em a charming jade statue of a dragon and dies in a hit and run accident outside her store..Em has to thwart the evil spell of the Jade dragon...

This is the 2nd book in the Chintz and China series, and I really enjoyed it. Emerald finds herself in the possession of a beautiful jade dragon sculpture, but it's cursed, and her happiness and security are about to go spiraling down. She does what she has to do to break the curse and keep her family safe, while managing her business and her love life, both of which are very busy nowadays.
I love the characters in this series. Emerald is strong, steady, and willing to do what it takes to make her family life happy. She's a good mom, and I love the relationship she has with her kids, too. Her friends and neighbors are colorful people, with stories of their own, who stand by Emerald and her kids, and watch out for each other.

My Opinion
I totally enjoyed this second book in the Chintz and China series. I really like the main character and her family. All the characters are well developed and I enjoyed this particular storyline better than the first book. There was a lot in thisbook that carried over from the first book and I can not wait to read the next one in the series. I have a feeling that the books are just going to keep getting better.

#2 in the Chintz 'n China Mystery Series. Things go downhill quickly for Emerald when a man leaves her shop after a reading and is killed by a hit and run driver leaving behind a small jade Ming dragon that has been cursed and disrupts the lives of those that are in possession of it. Unfortunately, little things in this book kept distracting me from the story. Doesn't Yasmine have an editor that would point out that you don't give a school nurse your insurance card or that you don't hear the "ringing" of the dial tone, even if this is a cozy mystery shouldn't an editor still do their job?

Second in the series and definitely not as good as the first was. This one seemed to drag, with no real moments that grabbed you and made you want to keep going. I do like the characters and the setting and there were some good moments, but it was flat overall. I was disappointed because I like the first one so much and expected ths one to be just as good. I hope the next one is better because it's already on my TBR pile!
