a web of deception and desire,makes for a good book
Not one of Jayne Krentz's best efforts.
Honor Mayfeild, an interior decorator falls for Conn Landry, a thouroughbred racer. She thinks the meeting is by chance, but he cleverly set her up years ago. She realizes too late she is falling for someone who is seeking revenge for a legacy of murder and betrayal.
Great and fast read. Jayne Ann Krentz never disappoints.
Very good book. Love, murder, theft and revenge in the horse racing world. A sweet love story with a great mystery.

Too late, she realized she was falling for someone who was seeking to avenge a lecay of murder and betrayal. A peice of her past was mysteriously linked to Conn, and now they were tangled together in a web of deception..and desire.
As a member of the Thoroughbred horse-racing set in CA, Conn was well respected. But Honor was about to sidcover the real man beneath the controlled exterior. I have read most of Jayne Ann Krentz's books, I find her a good author.
That being said, I hated this book. The relationship between the hero and heroine came off as being extremely abusive, not sexy. There is a point in the story where the heroine is actually afraid the hero is going physically abuse her, and then when he doesn't she takes that as a sign that he's not that bad. In my opinion a relationship where you think you might actually have to worry about your physical well-being is not a healthy relationship to be in.
Also, I felt the "love" between the hero and heroine to be very forced. In the beginning the heroine is wary and uncertain of the hero, and then in the next chapter she is in love with him. The author spent no time building their relationship for the reader, she just stated that it had happened. Not really what I'm looking for in a love story.
All in all, it was not worth reading. Try reading any other book by this author, but don't bother with this one.
