Hilarious, thought provoking, real to life chick lit. I couldn't put this one down.

Funny and very current (lots of 2006 references). Seems a bit unrealistic to me, but I'm rather cynical sometimes.

I really enjoyed this book.

Like...REALLY enjoyed this book.

While my life has not played out like Claire's (my husband and I are still married, and we've never dealt with the issue of adultery), there were so many ways how Claire and I are a lot alike. We have the same goals, hopes, and dreams that we've not made a priority as much as we should have. It was eye-opening to read her perspective (even if it was fictional).

I wanted to cry through all the moments where she genuinely struggled to have a kind word to say to her ex-husband. Her heart had been shattered, and their kids were paying the price. But the moment when she finally realizes that she could forgive him because she had some pretty big flaws of her own, oh...that scene written beautifully.

There was a small romantic thread that I believe will be more prominent in the next book, so that leaves me LOTS to look forward, too.

Having read this 15+ years after it was originally published, there were so many pop culture things from that time that made me smile when I came across them. Mentions of Trump on The Apprentice, The Purpose Driven Life book, Dr. Phil,... the list goes on. It felt like a warm, fun hug.

I could literally gush forever, but I won't. Just get a copy and read it, too...it's worth it.

This was definitely a fun book to read. I had never read anything of hers, but am anxious to find another and the second in this series.

I could not get past all of the religion issues, so I ended up putting the book down. I did not realize that this book was so heavily ensconced in religion when I got the book, so that was my own fault. I do not want to read a book in which the mother tells the daughter that she is miserable because she "has lost touch with God" when she is obviously dealing with depression after a divorce and her husband is remarried.

Since I did not finish the book, I have no recommendations other this -- if you like religious books, than you might like this one. If you do not want to read a book in which the main characters are constantly referring to god or praying or asking for help from god, then don't pick this one up.
