First, I have a huge complaint to lay at David Rosenfelt's door: He just doesn't write fast enough to suit me. And now he has the gall to try to start a different series or two (new: Doug Brock and K-Team). I'm willing to read an occasional standalone novel by this great author, but enough is enough. The reading public needs more Andy Carpenter and Tara.
This is a very different novel from the usual (wonderful) Andy Carpenter. He keeps visiting Joey Desimone, a previous case that Andy lost. Andy is convinced that Joey being the son of a local Mafia don is what wrongly convicted him of murder.
When Andy and Tara visit Joey's Uncle Nick, the elderly man says something that makes Andy wonder if he is confused or if he knows something that will affect Joey's incarceration. Before Andy can get to the bottom of the comment, Uncle Nick dies under unusual circumstances. Andy doesn't believe in coincidences and starts to dig deeper.
Before the story is over, there are twists and turns aplenty. The bad guys go after Andy and Sam, his accountant. Marcus Clark does his best, which is good enough to save his friends. This is a wild ride and a great story. Enjoy.

I really enjoyed the first books in the series and then his writing changed. His colorful characters are there but as the series goes along he writes less about why they are colorful.
This was a good ones, kept you guessing till the end.

I have read nearly all of David Rosenfelt's books and always look forward to those that he will be publishing or those which I have yet to read. I recently finished "Leader of the Pack" -- once again, I enjoyed his style of writing, quick wit/sense of humor and ability to keep me in suspense. Was this particular book my favorite? No. Did I thoroughly enjoy it and recommend it to others? Absolutely!
