Just as much fun as watching an episode of the TV show, if you can get past the continuity errors. (Ironic, because the suspects are an acquisitions editor and two copy editors.)

From the jacket: When a woman's body is found at the bottom of an air shaft in a Times Square hotel, it looks like a routine suicide. Enter homicide detectives Lennie Briscoe and Ed Green. Something about the woman seems out of place in this tourist trap - her clothing indicates she was elegant. No self-respecting rich person would be caught dead in a place like this. The trail leads though the streets of New York to the woma 's apartment and a drawer that holds an about-to-be-published tell-all novel that was destined to be a bestseller. What's in the novel that is worth killilng over?"
