This really has little to do with the law. A super shy girl adores a detective from afar. Her wacky/dangerous family is always complicating her life, & he helps her straighten out the kinks while he seduces her, than falls in love with her. It's more a contemporary romance than anything else.
Shy Mara Hanover has lived beside Detective Mitch Lawson for four years, but never said a word to him. Even though she loved him from afar, she has always considered herself out of his league. When he fixes her broken faucet and flirts with her, Mara is nearly in panic mode, trying to avoid him. But when her cousin's kids run away and she receives a call to pick them up, Mitch is there to help. As Mara finds herself guardian to two young children, Mitch is the guy who is always there to lean on.
This is an entertaining contemporary romance. Mitch is definitely my kind of hero. He is kind, giving person. He makes up his mind quickly to help Mara take care of the children. When her crazy family shows up to harass her, Mitch is there to make sure they can't hurt Mara or the kids. Mara has grown up under awful circumstances and doesn't want anything to do with her family. She doesn't think much of herself or the chance of Mitch falling in love with her. This theme went on and on in this story. I wish the author would have let Mara realize her value to the relationship a lot earlier in the story. My rating: 4 Stars.
