A quaint and interesting story. It's fun to read what was popular 105 years ago! and fun to see what life was like back then as reflected in the literature. The book is in good shape for it's age.
Published 1902. A sweet, interesting romance, with lots of moral value and a real penchant for eye-catching character studies. Ruth comes to a rural town to house-sit for her eccentric, old-maid aunt who is traveling abroad. Ruth has few directions but one is greatly important, keep a light burning at night in the window. Just who is whose mother, and just who is going to marry who, and just who really has strength of character makes for sometimes funny, sometimes sad, always interesting plot twists.
