I was disappointed in this one although I have read and enjoyed many of his other books.

I tried several times to finish this novel but the plot ambled as if waiting for some character to get a grip and actually DO something rather than wait for fate to make a decision or carry the story and the journey on. The characters weren't very real to me. Especially the child, he wasn't believable or endearing, his dialogue didn't ring true even for a supposedly bright child.

I seldom meet a book i just can't finish, and most of his i've liked alot, so it surprised me that this was actually written by the author, more like something tossed off to met an obligation to his publisher. Sorry I WANTED to like it.
