i found this a very interesting perspective on dog behavior. A pretty simple read, and something to consider if you have pets that are home alone for lengths of time.

This was an enjoyable, entertaining & educational book. Oh, it was a little redundant, but it had many amusing anecdotes and helpful hints that, so far, work with Chief pretty well. But he is a fast learner, which I am sure is a big part of it. There wasn't much information on pits, or even a mention of Australian Cattle Dogs, so that was a bit of a disappointment. Still, it was a fast and fun read.

This is THE BEST dog/human relationship book. To understand canine behavior you must understand pack sociology. The smallest loving action may set in motion the creation/development of the "Dog From Hell". The smallest loving action may set in motion the creation/development of the finest companion/friend dog you pray for. Good info for anyone who already has a dog, and especially good for the prospective dog human companion. A wonderful read, and a thoughtful gift for friends who already have a dog.
The first time I read "Latchkey" I learned that I MUST put food in my mouth before I fed my dog. I changed my behavior and suddenly any command I gave got immediate and full compliance. Alpha eats first, the rest of the pack eats by the grace of alpha. In feeding my dog, then sitting dowm to eat, I confused my dog/friend regarding which of the two of us was Alpha. Easy fix thanks to the info from "Latchkey"
