First let me say--this is a beginning of a series and I'm not interested in getting into another series.
However, by page 60 or so I was completely bored, the lead character I thought was pitiful, all 'woe is me' 'I'm about to lose my job' and on and on, the storyline fell through for me when I realized there was going to be a lot of pages and pages about caving and that did not interest me at all and didn't want to waste my time.
Just in those first pages it had a lot of repeat about the murder of his wife and 'woe is me'

Just finished this 1st book in the Markus Novak series and enjoyed it very much. I've read a couple of his other books and I really do enjoy Koryta's writing. I found the book to be very engaging and not bogged down with lots of descriptions. There was lots of twists and turns that kept the pages turning. I found the subjects of caving and hypnosis to be a very interesting mix in the story and look forward to the reading the 2nd book where he goes after his wife's murderer.
