Oh boy. I am sad to say that this story is a perfect example of a heroine that annoys the CRAP out of me. Shes TOO stubborn, TOO rude, and got on my nerves on almost every page. I thought after 100 pages, shed warm up to her man, but no. She fights him until the very last page. Dont get me wrong, there are some sweet moments, but I couldnt get the relationship between the two, one minute enemies, the next lovers. Many writers can make it work, she didnt, for me. This was my first Sandra Hill book, it wont be my last, but Ill only read one or two more before I can say I like or dislike her. Thank goodness for the humor, it carried me through.

This one had it all, funny, sad, serious, educational, and a little steamy at times. I've loved the whole Viking series and thought I had read them all. What a treat.

Shipwrecked and lost, six-feet, four inch Geirolf finds himself thrown into the 20th century. The medieval historian, Meredith can't fall in love with the arrogant, chauvinistic viking because of his blood oath to full-fill his destiny and return to the 10th century. Yet all in love they do.

This action packed novel is filled with laughter, tears (and I shed plenty of 'em), and, by Odin- a hearty good time!

I found The Last Viking a hard book to put down and read it all in 2 days! Bestselling author, Sandra Hill, wins my vote for best book I've read yet this year. You fall in love with the characters and root for their love to last, all amidst chaos, tension, and obnoxious family members.

A must read!

The storyline was different to most time-travel books. This one has the hero (ROLF) bought forward from the tenth to the twentieth century instead of having the heroine go back in time. The story is hilarious, I have never laughed so much as I did reading it, especially at some of Rolf's pronounciation of the words. Merry-death(Meredith) is a wonderful herione especially when Rolf is trying to put her in her place. He is a real chauvanist but very lovable with it. I can guarentee this book will have you in stitches and tears, a brilliant read.

Wonderfully light hearted take of a Viking moving forward in time to 1997. Some light Viking history, enough to make you want to look it up. Fun characters and steamy romance. Worth reading more of Ms Hill's books.

I've enjoyed other Sandra Hill time travel books and decided to read the Viking II series. All 10 books in under 2 weeks.

I gave this book 3 1/2 stars.

This is the first book in the Viking II series, and it was mostly Rolf and Merry-Death butting heads. There were sad and funny moments. Took a few chapters for me to get into it and finish reading it in order to move on to the next.

Usually the first book is so-so and the series becomes highly entertaining by the 3rd book. I'm hoping they're not all the same plot like most time travel series are.

"The Last Viking" humorously relates their adventures with lot of sizzle. Hill has become adept at blending the
"bodice ripper" style romance with laughs and time travel. Although some parts lagged a bit. This book is a great way
to spend a hot, lazy afternoon. I really enjoyed it!

What do you do when you're a tenth century Viking who finds himself shipwrecked in the twentieth century? Why, you head for the nearest longboat and try to get back to your own time. The only problem is, the longboat Geirolf Ericsson needs to get him home is half-built and the property of a woman who talks funny and asks too many questions. Questions he can't begin to answer, like how he got to present day Maine. Dr. Meredith Foster knows the imposing and devastatingly handsome man who has invaded her house can't possibly be a real Viking. Meredith is convinced it's some kind of a hoax, but she is willing to go along with the game as long as Rolf can help her finish building the Viking longboat her grandfather started. But keeping her distance from the virile Viking proves more than the lonely professor can handle. And the thought of losing him does funny things to her heart. Sandra Hill's romantic and raucous tale of time-crossed lovers will touch your heart- and your funny bone. She paints a vivid picture of Rolf, the drop dead gorgeous Viking who needs Merry-death to get back to his own time and fulfill a promise to his father. Meredith is delightful as the staid professor at odds with the macho man from the past. Their relationship is full of passion, and enough humor to make you laugh out loud.

Really enjoyed the struggle between a liberated twentieth century woman and a chauvinistic Viking warrior from the 10th century trying to find his way in her world. Lots of humor, well written characters and interesting factual information about both centuries.

When medieval historian Meredith Foster finds a man in a leather tunic roasting a rabbit in her fireplace. She thinks it's some kind of elaborate joke. But as she teaches him to eat spaghetti and use a computer, Meredith comes to realize that he knows much about the tenth century and nothing about the 20th. Should she surrender to the fantasy that Geirolf Ericsson really is a Viking from 1,000 years ago? And as he helps her fulfill her grandfather's dream of re-creating a Viking ship, he awakens her to dreams of her own.

He was six feet, four inches of pure, unadulterated male. He wore nothing but a leather tunic, spoke in an ancient tongue, and he was standing in Professor Meredith Foster's living room. The medieval historian told herself he was part of a practical joke, but with his wide, gold belt, callused hands, and the rabbit roasting in her fireplace, the brawny stranger seemed so...authentic. Suddenly Meredith was mesmerized by his bronzed, muscular form, and her body surrendered to the fantasy that Geirolf Ericsson really was a Viking from a thousand years ago, sent only to pleasure her. But as she tried to teach him to eat spaghetti and use a computer, she realized he knew an awful lot about the tenth century-and so little about the twentieth. And as he helped her fulfill her grandfather's dream of re-creating a Viking ship, he awakened her to dreams of her own. Until she wondered if the hand of fate had thrust her into the loving arms of The Last Viking.
