For most readers, Anne Frank's story ends with her family being dragged from their hiding place and taken away. In this moving book, the author reconstructs what happened to Anne and some of her friends between their arrest and death. Important companion to Anne's diary.

After reading the diary of Anne Frank, I always wanted to know what her life was like after she was taken. This book really gives a good insight into how her life was for her in the concentration camps she was in and how her relationship with her family changed after that point. Along with Anne Frank's story, this book also provides additional insight from people who were in the concentration camps with her and the stories are told from their perspective. Some of the tales that are in the book are ones that I have heard before, and others are not. Either way, the book is profoundly moving. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about the experiences of this time or about Anne Frank in general. This book quite literally brought me to tears several times and I read it in one sitting.
