I normally love Erica Spindlers books. This however was not one of my favorites. Parts of it were just dull and seemed to drag. The story itself was pretty interesting..once you got around all the filler. It felt like she had an idea for the story and then wasn't sure how to pan it out so she filled in alot of backstory that wasn't needed. Also I really couldn't connect to the main character Patty O'Shay at all. The last few chapters got interesting but..the ending was pretty anticlimatic. A decent read but not one of her best.

Erica Spindler is in my top ten favorite/must read authors for a reason. She has more than proved herself as a talented, page turning author. Her characters are solid and interesting. Her facts are more realistic than a lot of books in the same genre. In LKV, Patti O'Shay, a captain in the New Orleans police department is out to find her husband's killer. The first clues come from an abandoned refridgerator left in Katrina's aftermath. One of my three suspects eventually became unmasked as the killer. This isn't a bad stat. I like to be kept guessing, and Spindler suceeds in that again here. I hate having to wait a year each time for a new Spindler book. If you haven't read any books by this author, I recommend you pick up some of the older ones first. Work your way through them to this one! Last Known Victim isn't a five star book like most of her others, but it still is way above the norm.

I've read all of Erica Spindler's novels. Not only is she a great writer, but also her novels center around New Orleans, near where I'm from. The back cover reads: "In 2005, hurricane rescue workers made a grisly discovery at one of the massive refrigerator 'graveyards'----six female hands." Spindler will keep you in suspense from front to back covers.

Having lived through katrina and still living in new orleans, i feel like i am right in the action of the story. Great plot, scene locations and never guessed the ending.

Really boring book. It kept my attention, but it was really long and wasn't exciting at all, until the last 40 pages. I am glad that I didn't buy this book at a book store. I would have returned it.
The idea was a good one, but the execution of the plot was lacking. This was more about cop "instincts" rather than facts, and forensics. Which to me means the author doesn't know anything at all about the way the criminal justice system works.
This book was not my taste, it was boring. But don't just take my word for it. Read it yourself if really want to.

The reviews for this one don't seem to be so positive, but I really enjoyed it--and so did the coworker I loaned it to! We both thought it was as good as her other work. She keeps you guessing until the end!

I enjoyed this book as can be told by the fact that I finished it in just a couple of days. The book visits old characters from Ms Spindler's previous books. Seeing New Orleans through the character's eyes after hurricane Katrina was essential to the essence of the book.

This was my first book by this author but won't be my list. VERY well written...only four stars because I wasn't completely sold on how everything ended/was wrapped up but it wasn't a total deal breaker for me either. Will def be reading again!

A very good book with a different twist. Had me guessing (although I thought I'd figured it out several times) right to the end.

I love this author, and this book kept my attention from the minute I turned the first page. Written after hurricane Katrina, the story starts with the discovery of a police officers dead husbands badge discovered with the body of someone who had been murdered.

This book is a combination of several of my favorite things - a good, well-written story, murder mysteries and the city like no other - New Orleans.

Captain Patti O'Shay, a NOLA policeman is assigned the cases of murder that are attributed to "The Handyman". The name comes not from his propensity with tools, etc., well maybe with the ability to cleanly cut off the right hand of each of his victims.......

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the police discover six severed hands in an abandoned refrigerator. A quick investigation finds no leads. Two years later a body is discovered in a shallow grave; its right hand missing. Also in the grave is the badge of murdered policeman Sammie O'Shay. Captain Patti O'Shay knows there is a link between her husband's murder and the serial killer dubbed "The Handyman". When a stripper contacts the police and claims to know the identity of the person found in the grave, Patti jumps at the chance to solve the mystery of her husband's death. But as Patti and her detectives begin to question the accuracy of the stripper's claims, new clues are uncovered.

This is the third book in Spindler's Stacy Killian series. Stacy and her boyfriend, Spencer Malone, are secondary characters in this book. They help Spencer's Aunt Patti discover the identity of The Handyman. The story is fast moving, but does bog down a bit in the middle. There were three characters that were suspects in this book. I guessed the identity of the villain early in the story. My rating: 3.5 Stars.

Solid mystery writing. The plot twists were a bit expected but I still enjoyed reading it.

Pleasantly surprised, good story without getting into mushy romance every other page, I hate romances!

Story flows along pretty good and it did keep me guessing until the end so that is a plus for any book.

Liked the fact that foul language was minimmal and no pages and pages of sex scenes, just a good mystery/suspense.

This is a great thriller. I love her writing skills and characters. She really knows how to put you in New Orleans in real time with life-like people, with twists and turns, doubts, and upside down ending. A good police detective looking for her husband's killer from two years ago. From cut-off hands to exotic dancers, keeps you reading until the end. Great book, great author.
