This book was okay for me. It might have been more original in its day, but these "coming-of-age"-type novels always end up blending together for me in the end because they are all the same. If it hadn't have been so short, I might not have read it all. Nevertheless, it was still pretty good and I breezed through it pretty fast. The part about the litter of newborn kittens made my stomach turn!
