Both I and my son (who's 21 and reads nothing but fantasy) read it; I liked it a lot, he liked it, but less. His quibble (which I have to agree with) is that there really is no way to really understand the complex mystical premise behind the plot. (I just assumed it was over my head.) That said, I enjoyed it--a very challenging, intricately plotted fantasy novel, with terrific characters.
