Initially, I enjoyed the main character, Eve. Young woman, aspiring writer, working at the New Yorker magazine office secretary/copy editor. When she gets passed over for a promotion, she decides to take one of the authors up on his job offer â living on Cape Cod, where her parents have a summer residence. So far so good. She has always admired the writer and they get along well. When she meets his adult son at a party and they have a fling, the story went downhill from there for me. Overall, it was an okay read but I found her character way too self-centered and one dimensional for my liking.
