I LOVED THIS BOOK!! If you've read "The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek" (and if you haven't you should), you know about the rare blood condition that produced blue skin. This book - The Last Blue - is about people having this condition living in Appalachia in the early 1930's and the hatred and discrimination they faced. When a couple of agents from Roosevelt's FSA arrive for a story on the hardships of living in the area and hear rumors they set off to confirm. While one is all about the story, Clayton Havens, photographer, experiences life on an entirely different level with these simple people. This is a wonderful read full of love, hope, determination, heartbreak, death, and redemption. LOVED IT.
