A collection of quotations, very short poems, and the like that celebrate dance, presented in an attractive binding. There is no credit given the editors, but they have found apt sentiments from diverse literary sources, from Wordworth to Isadora Duncan. Although there has been no interest among the gals and guys to a couple of biographies I previously brought in, I obtained it as an add on for the shelf at the old soldiers and sailors' home. The last book on dance was an autobiography by a Russian who began training in the last years of Romanov rule; when there were no takers I took it to the lobby of the VA Hospital and a lady gladly took it as soon as I set it on the book truck.
Edgar Degas:
"It is people's movement that consoles us.
If the leaves of a tree did not move,
how sad would be the tree--and
so would we.
