The hoped-for character development that the first book needed didn't really materialize in this episodic book. It jumps back and forth between the brothers Ross and Jed, and then to a third location. Plus it jumps back and forth in time, for a page or a paragraph. It's a device used more effectively in other books, and one I don't particularly enjoy anyway. I skimmed a lot of this (including the required sex scenes) and found the dialogue a little forced. We get a little more of the Thatcher extended family, but it's not enough to satisfy. On to the third and (thankfully) final installment which cost me $2.38 - about right.
