An idealistic Quaker ambulance driver stationed in Europe marries a young Dutch girl, also a Quaker, recently liberated from a Nazi concentration camp and returns with her to America, where they take up the cause of the American Indians. The story is played out against the background of today's Quaker and Indian values as they strive to preserve moral and ethical values in a world that often seems mad--a world that mocks the efforts to pursue non-violence, compassion and love.
