Not as dumb as it sounds. I enjoyed it reasonably well. However, she lays on the villainy of the villains a bit thick at the end. Not to mention perpetuating a certain stereotype of homosexuality that I found somewhat offensive.

One of the best books I have read...
I recommend this book for readers who want more than just a titillating erotic read. It is erotic, but it is also a passionate love story, with strongly defined characters, intrigue, depravity and loss of innocence and broken dreams... It is a story of attitudes and depravity of men, women and politics of the era. And ultimately of a woman - daughter, wife, mother - whose beliefs, values and very life takes an abrupt turn into the harsh light of reality...leads ultimately to the passion and love her soul craves. Excellent writing!

An erotic romance between a prim and proper Victorian lady and the bastard son of an English countess and an Arab sheik who teaches her the art of sensual delight. A surprisingly good story with depth.

This book was great... I did not expect the plot to be so intriguing, but I couldn't put it down. The story portrays a lonely married woman, whom despite having had two children is pretty much in the dark about sex. Her husband has not visited her bed chamber in a long time and when she finds out he has taken a mistress, she goes to Ramiel (an Arab, bastard son of a sheik) for instruction on seducing and winning her husband back. From there on the book takes twists and turns that kept me guessing... I cheered for Elizabeth as she fought for her right to be loved, touched and cherished, and yet found it very sad at times, especially how ignorant women were kept about their sexuality back then. Ms. Schone developed her characters and storyline superbly and as always the sizzzzzling love scenes never disappoint and will be fun to try out, lol... hope you will enjoy.

Story: building to high drama, unexpected turns, very romantic
Romance: very erotic

Both lead characters are strong but vulnerable. The villains are truly despicable.

Although this is a HUGE book, I read it within 24 hours. I just couldn't put it down. I even took it to work with me so I could read bits in snatches throughout the day. This is my first time to read Ms. Schone, but it will not be her last. I'm already reviewing her other books to see which I will read next. Sorry, I will not be posting this one. It is my latest KEEPER.

HOT! Unusual storyline and unexpected twist. Not your usual "historical type". If you don't care for rather explicit sex--don't choose this book.

I still can't get over how good this book was. I don't know how Schone did it. The story is set in late 1800's, Victorian times. Elizabeth seems to be the perfect Victorian wife. But she isn't. All she wants is to be loved, to experience passion, to feel alive. She is not able to get that from her husband. He shows her no love, no tenderness.

So she seeks out Ramiel who is known as a bastard shiek; a man who knows how please a woman in many ways. She hopes that he can teach her how to seduce her husband; so he teaches her the art of seduction through a book and with his words. Soon the heat and passion becomes too much for them, and they have to face their feelings for one another. Meanwhile someone is trying to kill Elizabeth. Her husband is hiding a dark secret. Elizabeth's life is unravelling and she is trying to gain her control and life back. Ramiel is so sexy and hot. He is so good to Elizabeth. The dialogue between the two of them is amazing, and yes, highly erotic.

Wow--who knew such erotic sensuality could exist in Victorian times--oh my! Arabian heartthrob frees the inner woman who until now has existed only as a repressed, unhappily married politician's wife. While she becomes an A student in lush tingling sensation, her hubby gets furious but has his own secrets he wants under wraps. Plot thickens as hubby threatens revenge in a nasty way. Throughout all, she and her Sheik make steamy love sing along the pages of an unexpected plot.

This book is definitely erotic fiction ... but it had a pretty good plot to go along with all the sex.

Married young to a man hand-picked by her father, Elizabeth is an ideal Victorian lady. Craving a man's loving touch yet loyal to her wedding vows, she is determined to seduce her coldy indifferent husband. She knows of only one man who can teach her the erotic secrets of love. The bastard son of an English countess & an Arab sheik, Ramiuel. This book is a page turner!

I have never read Schone before and picked up the book on a whim. It's very much a coming of age story even it's based on an older woman. She loses her innocence in so many ways. Her reactions to events are rather juvenile and she had a bit of growing up to do emotionally.

It is a very erotic book that sort of unfolds. Elizabeth and Ramiel don't jump into bed right away, in many ways I'm not sure they even flirted. It was more of a slow initiation to sexual exploration.

Good read, interested in seeing her other stuff.

This was a book that really played up small details, the touch of a finger on lips, the creaking of a corset or a chair, rustle of cloth, the taste of fog. Very sensory. I liked it a lot because of those details, it added to the environment. There were uncomfortable sections because of the unconventional story, but that doesn't make it bad. Writing should move you and disturb you and..turn you on. I would recommend it.

Very good book, a bit steamy but in a good way. A very good ending and it has a definite story...not just sex.

Elizabeth has endured 16 years of a passionless marriage to the husband picked out by her father. Determined to seduce her indifferent husband, she knows of only one man who can teach her the secrets of erotic love.
Ramiel was raised to embrace both Western culture and Eastern pleasure. Challenged by the prim Elizabeth's request he undertakes her instruction. But when the lessons become a temptation neither can resist, Elizabeth is forced to choose between obligation and a bold, forbidden passion. Combines the erotic with the romantic in a collision of two worlds.

I loved this book. In the words of The Literary Times : "Combining the erotic with the romantic, Robin Schone tests the boundaries of romance fiction."

I thought that this book was really a great read. It does start off slow, not with heat but just the story line... but then it EXPLODES!!! I have been reading many romance novels during the last few months and they were getting old because they didn't really have much meat but this book has that and more.

If you are not into a very heat filled book, then this book isn't for you. On the heat meter it is a 10... but it has a great story line... well worth the A+++ that likesbooks.com gives it.

Interesting theory of hiring a tutor. Good story but not for faint of heart, has a lot of sexual content. Hot, Hot!!!!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It wasn't what I expected. The thirty something heroine was strong and not one of those too stupid to live heroines. She was a product of her time, but was able to show real growth in her character. The hero was fascinating. One might think that the lessons are very scandalizing. They are, but not in the way you might think given the blurb in the book. There's a lot of talking about intimate acts, but the actual touching happens in the last quarter of the book. I wouldn't classify this as true erotica although the heroine most definitely has an erotic awakening from the dull, loveless marriage she was enduring for nearly sixteen year. Having read Gabriel's Woman by the same author, I was also pleasantly surprised at how good this story was compared to that one.

This book is about a married woman who wants the "hero" to teach her
to be sexy and wanted. He succeeds admirably. A touch of erotica,
and a touch of adultery.
