Grace Burrowes said in her Acknowledgements that she really enjoyed writing this book. I can honestly say that I did not enjoy reading it. I can usually find some redeeming part of any book. Okay, this is it. I can truly say that I like all of the characters. However, I do not like the stories provided for them. In this particular book, I was bored with changing the baby's nappies and tired of the three brothers sitting around drinking and talking about their wives and babies. I didn't mind the side stories of the Duke and Duchess, parents of the heroine, and the aunt and uncle of the hero. All of this jumping back and forth left the story disjointed. There were times when I couldn't figure out what was happening to whom. I confess it might have been because I skipped more than half of the book-the nappy/drinking parts. There are three more stories to go in this series. I think I'll give it a rest for a while. I really like to finish a series when I start it, so I will eventually get back to it

Burrowes' books always have some historical inaccuracy and huge secrets that turn out to be nothing. But, I usually don't care because her characters are so interesting and the romance is so great. But in this case, both the characters and romance fell flat for me. They're just two nice people who happened to get stranded together.

This one is Sophie's story-the 2nd daughter of the Duke (I think Maggie's the oldest). I really liked Sophie and her taking in strays (the half blind horse, cat without a leg, etc). I liked the baby storyline-that one was a bit different. Another awesome book by Grace Burrowes!

Another nice read. I've been reading this series since last month and I really have enjoyed the characters so far. I can't get enough of the Windham crew.

I give this one a 3.5 to 4 stars. It was pleasant and enjoyable.

I'm ready for the next.

Although I consider The Heir, by the same author, to be a definite keeper, I was disappointed in this book.

There was no real reason for the hero and heroine to fall in love, other than the hero knows how to change diapers. Very underwhelming in the romance department, too.

You really don't get to know much about either character at all. (Here is what I know about the heroine: She loves her brothers, and she wants to be alone sometimes. Here is what I know about the hero: He has a family, somewhere. And he likes to travel. Yup, that's about it for the character development).

There is a lot of burping the baby and feeding the baby and changing the baby's diapers, and putting the baby to sleep, and playing with the baby, and carrying the baby, though. The baby is also a magic baby, because everyone who spends any time with him (like 2 minutes or less) falls in love with him instantly.

So, if a romance that features mostly a burping, pooping baby is your cup of tea, this one fits the bill!
