This book, a sequel to Cornick's Virtuous Cyprian, was not as interesting as the first. Polly is much too passive and it is often hard to imagine what Henry sees in her. I liked the repeated references to characters from other Cornick books, but often those other characters were more interesting that Polly and Henry. I would definitely recommend this to Cornick fans, particularly those who enjoyed the Virtuous Cyprian and Miss Verey's Proposal.

This is a good Regency Romance. I really like her books.

I ordered this book because it is part of a trilogy. I found it a little silly and not as rewarding to read as the other 2 books in the series.

Note: I don't care what the lists say, but I would read 'Miss Verey's Proposal' before I read this one! Not sure why it was written out of sequence. I do like to read them in chronological order of the time not the publishing date!

What would we do without Harlequin Historicals? Authors of this genre have to start somewhere. This must be where Nicola started. The first one, the 'Virtuous Cyprian', was among her first books. This book is a 'Lady Polly' better than it. Everything was going along just fine until Lady Polly got out of character and acted like she didn't have a brain in her head. I am now reading 'Miss Verey's Proposal' so I am going to have to reread this one to figure out how the characters fit in this story. Most of the characters appear in all of the books.

This was the last in this series (on author's website looks like book 2 but is really book 3 when you read it).

Didn't enjoy this one quite as much as I enjoyed the other two but is a nice quick read.

From the back cover.Even as Lady Polly rejected another proposal of marriage, her heart burned for the man she'd rejected five years ago. She'd heard that in his misery her beloved Lord Henry Marchnight had become a rogue and a gambler. But when her appeared before her on a deserted terrace an stole a kiss,Polly knew her passion hadn't died. The man still knew how to steal her reason with one touch. But the reason she needed as suspicions of criminial behavior hovered about Lord Henry.Should she return to her routine of spurning suitors? Or should she do what she should have done five years ago -trust her love and follow her heart.
