Surprisingly good book. This was my first book by this author, and I felt like I dropped into a sequel with the hero jilted by the heroine of a previous book. He is playing the heavy by taking blame for her dumping him, but meanwhile he falls for his ex-fiancee's new sister-in-law! The romance is off to a rocky start (her brother hates him), as the heroine wants to marry to become influential and effect some social reforms. She is a total do-gooder, a bit annoying at times. You want to smack her, but by the end of the book, all works out, and there is plenty of head-smacking going on by people as they realize they need to straighten themselves out, not change other people. Good read, will look for additional books by this author...

She wants to be a woman of influence, but can she be persuaded if she listens to her heart?

Isabel Grayson is determined to find and wed a man of fine political standings in order to become a lady of influence among London society. She isn't looking for love, just the means to cater to her goals of charity work. Toby isn't what she would consider suitable husband material, but he does set her heart aflutter. She vows to reform him into what she deems suitable.

Sir Tobias Aldridge seeks revenge on the man who stole his intended, the lovely Sophia. What better way to get back at his enemy than to steal his sister? Toby finds it no hardship since Isabel is a very fetching woman.

Their marriage is almost doomed from the beginning. Isabel wanted to marry a man of power and influence, but Toby has a paltry title and an infamous reputation. He promises things to Isabel so he may be worthy of her, promises he cant keep. Isabel craves societys respect, but she very well may lose her heart instead.

The third in a trilogy, I read LADY OF PERSUASION as a stand alone book. Tessa Dare does an excellent job of catching up the reader with past characters and plot lines so that youre not lost when you delve into this passionate romance. Tobias and Isabella are unique characters that we see layer upon layer revealed as the story unfolds. Tess Dare has penned a truly remarkable romance!

After being jilted by his fiancee, Sir Tobias Aldridge finds himself at loose ends. When his former fiancee, Sophia, comes back to town with a new husband, Toby wants revenge against the man who married the woman he considered his own. What better way than to marry the man's sister. Isabel Grayson is looking to marry a powerful lord that will allow her to become a lady of influence. She fights for the poor and knows she needs wealth and power to make a statement. Toby doesn't have the big title that she is looking for, but he does make her heart race every time she looks at him. When he proposes after just meeting her and promises to run for a seat in Parliament, she agrees to marry him. But will the impetuous marriage really work?

The last book in the Wanton Dairymaid trilogy was a little slow. I liked Toby and knew he was talking himself into a corner with his lies to his new wife. Isabel was a bit too sweet. She is a do-gooder who flogs herself if she does or feels anything she thinks is inappropriate. The couples from the previous books all make an appearance in this one. It was a a solid historical romance worth reading. My rating: 3.5 Star.
