The Lady Chapel - Owen Archer, Bk 2 Author:Candace Robb It is 1365, and Owen Archer is called upon by Archbishop Thoresby to exercise his skills as detective. While the city of York celebrates Corpus Christi, a man is murdered. His severed hand is delivered to Gilbert Ridley, a merchant, and Owen is sent to investigate.
Oh, what a tangled plot. But that is certainly appropriate, as the plot centers around the wool trade.
Owen Archer and his wife Lucie, assisted by a number of others, eventually solve it all, but without the usually required complete happy ending. People get hurt. This includes nice people and some not-so-nice but not-so-bad.
And we find that churchmen are just as susceptible to temptation as they are today.
