Excellent tale of a marriage of convenience/period of adjustment, in which Lady Althea makes a marriage of convenience to protect herself from her nasty stepfather, and her husband Gareth, an army officer, to please his father the Earl of Chard by providing an heir to the earldom in case something happens to him in the coming battle with Napoleon. Althea travels to Brussels and is on the scene during the time of Waterloo. A very good read; the history permeates the book but doesn't overwhelm the love story. Nice Allan Kass painted cover set at the Duchess of Richmond's ball. Recommended.
