A lovely and highly entertaining book. I learned a lot about Elizabethan England from reading this. The author's intense research shows. The characters are more richly developed than in many romances, and the ending, while satisfying, is not what I have come to expect. I think I will enjoy reading more novels by this bright and creative author.

Enjoyable. The 2002 version has been rewritten from the 1989 version. I read the version. Light romance with timetravel between now and medieval England.

I fell in love with this book!! It has to be one of my all time favourites.
It was a really fast read because you could not turn the pages fast enough to keep up with the story. I stayed up all night to finish it and was not disappointed.
I look forward to reading even more by Jude Deveraux.

This book was just o.k. Many people referred to it when I was looking for a book similar to Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander", but this book falls far short of expectations. The dialogue was laughable at points, the characters are shallow, and I just could not get used to the heroine's far too masculine name- "Dougless", and her constant jealousy and whining really got on my nerves. I found the ending unsatisfying as well.

Romance and time travel combined. An unlikely story about a modern woman and a knight from long ago, but the writer makes you believe it's possible. I enjoyed this one.

This was one of my most favorite romance stories of all. There is a bit of time travel involved and it is also very funny at times. I loved both the heroine and the hero. It is such a lovely story and it has a really neat twist at the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story with some romance thrown in. It's definitely a 4 star.

This is one that will always have a place on my bookshelf. It is a wonderful time travel romance that really makes you believe that such things are possible. If you believe, or just love the concept, that love will find you no matter what, then this book is for you. I highly recommend it.

I like this one the best so far. It made me laugh and cry. Left me with a warm feeling. Loved it.

I am not a big Romance fan. I am an anti fantasy fan (time travel involved), but I really loved reading this book. The end was unsatsifying- but the rest was still worth the read.
One of the few Jude Deveraux I've read and I really enjoyed it.
Very cute story! Dougless starts off as a timid and bullied woman going on a small vacation with her boyfriend and his spoiled rotten daughter. She then finds herself helping a man that has come from the past. He doesn't understand and she helps him to find his way back to his own time. Along they way they try to discover why they have such a bond and feel as though they've known each other for centuries. The story takes a surprising twist and Dougless finds herself going back in time into a flithy and repulsive town where her knight was from. They are lost to each other.............will they find their way back together and how can they love when they are from such different times?
One of Jude Deveraux' best books. It's a time-travel romance with a lot of flair.
This is an early entry into the time travel romance category and a very good one. The heroine, from modern times is very much a sad sack kind of character and it's a bit unbelievable that any woman would allow theirself to be so put upon by others but..... the time travel and romance aspects of the story really shine once it gets going. I read it many years ago and then re-read it recently and enjoyed it quite a lot.

Absolutely the best book ever written by Jude Deveraux. The plot is awesome. A lot of research had to go in to this book because of the details she writes about in the midevil period...just a really great book.

This is one of the best romance time travel books I have read so far. I read it in one day. Very believable ending! A must read even if you are not into time travel.
