For the past decade, Jasper FitzHugh worked for his older brother, Randulf, lord of the partially constructed Rosecliffe Castle in Wales. When Queen Matilda summons Rand, he immediately goes. Still, Rand prays he can keep his people out of the civil war. Rand places Jasper in charge of his people and to keep his family safe.

After Rand leaves, the Welsh attack with the beautiful Rhonwen ap Tomas who tries to kill Jasper because he is the hated English. To his shock, Rhonwen opens Rand's eyes to what he has been missing as he falls in love with her. She, to her chagrin, reciprocates his feelings. However, they are on different sides of a local conflict, which places opposing demands on their loyalties. Also adding to their woes is an unknown assailant who has his own treacherous agenda.

The second novel in Rexanne Becnel's wonderful "Rosecliffe" trilogy is an exciting, non-stop Medieval romance that features characters from the previous tale (see THE BRIDE OF ROSECLIFFE). The story line is fast-paced and makes the middle of the twelfth century hum. The lead characters are intelligent and compassionate as they struggle between love and honor. THE KNIGHT OF ROSECLIFFE will leave readers anxiously awaiting the third tale from the magical Ms. Becnel.

In the wildwood surrounding Rosecliffe Castle, Welsh rebels plot to destroy their English interlopers. Fiercely loyal to the Welsh cause, Rhonwen ap Tomas has nothing but hatred for the English -- until destiny finds her seduced by her enemy, kissed into submission by a man she sought to kill, who now takes her prisoner.

Though Rhonwen saved his life when they were children, her role in the plot to destroy his family demands Jasper FitzHugh show no mercy to his beautiful captive. Yet he is ravaged by his desire to take this unruly vixen in his bed and show her that it is far more pleasurable to make love than war.

Caught up in a maelstrom of warring emotions, neither can predict the treachery that will force them to choose, once and for all, between their loyalties and their love...
