Loved the first two books, love the series. That said, this is more a character development book than a plot book. There is a main story line but it seems to be there as a vehicle for some significant relationship changes and background exposition. In other words, the plot is more a sub-plot. A nice solid read, just not as story driven as the previous two in the series. Looking forward to book four. =)

Worth reading, but I agree with another reviewer who said this was more of a character development than a plot driven advancement in the actual storyline. Kitty is basically getting herself back together after the tough conclusion of Kitty Goes to Washington. Much more on the mysterious bounty hunter, Cormac, and Lawyer/friend Ben...hope the next book comes out swinging...this was a bit less than I hoped for...but a decent addition to the series all the same.

Third in this series. Slower to start but stick with it! This book really furthered the series and took us in places unexpected!

I love how Kitty is becoming more confident with herself but at the same time still has weaknesses and vulnerabilities. I really missed her radio show, but she'll get back to it in the next book (this was her holiday after all). I loved the bits when she called into Ariel's show. And Kitty now has a small pack, which is so nice to see for her. So it was another great Kitty book!

Kitty decides to turn her back on her career for awhile after the nation sees her turn into a werewolf while kidnapped. Well, as all heroines know- take those lemons and make lemonade out of them. She holes up in a secluded cabin with the intent of writing a book and reflecting on her life. When life intrudes on the peace and quite, she is forced to make it a working holiday. Vaughn again has non stop action and offers us a slice of paranormal cornucopia. I love that she gives us a look at more than the werewolf culture. In all, a very satisfying read that has me digging in my TBR pile for book 4.

Despite the ongoing mystery of what is targeting Kitty, if I were to classify this book I'd call it the relationship book. Kitty's friends Ben and Cormac make significant appearances, and they begin to be cemented as major characters in this series. Reading back on my opinions of the earlier two books where I was saying that there was very little to no romance but I suspected a potential love triangle - well this book changes that.
This was a really good installment of the series and so far my favorite book. I was blown away at some developments and I there will be significant impacts to story arcs, so it's worth reading just to get to this point. Also of the three books I think this one also had elements that I found truely menacing, especially in one particular scene where Ben and Kitty do some investigation, even when what happened was in broad daylight! I am really looking forward to reading Kitty and The Silver Bullet, the next book in the series.

This is the third book in the Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn. I think this was the best book in the series so far. It is the only book in the series that has actually grabbed me and yanked me right through the book. I didn't find any part of this book boring or forced.
In this book Kitty is taking a break from her radio show "The Midnight Hour" to go off into the wilderness to write a book about her experiences as a werewolf. She is having a rough time getting going on the writing. Things get even rougher when Kitty's bounty hunter friend Cormac shows up with Kitty's lawyer Ben who has been infected by a werewolf. Kitty is trying to help Ben cope with his change but she has problems of her own when the locals start harassing her and they find out that something dark has followed Cormac back from where Ben got infected.
This book was more suspenseful than previous books and had quite a bit of action in it. Since Ben and Cormac are my favorite side characters I really liked that the book focused on them and let the reader learn more about them. I kind of missed Kitty doing her radio show; hopefully there will be more of that in the next book.

My favorite 'Kitty' book so far. It was a pleasure to hear descriptions of areas I grew up from someone who'd done more than simply driven through.

Loved this series.. this is book 3 so far and I have read them all and will be reading the rest/. one I'll follow for sure.. love the premise of the book and loved the characters too... I get lost when reading this series.. she really drags you right into the story .

I love this series but this isnt' the best book in the "Kitty" series. I think we needed this book to develop Cormac's character a little bit more. I feel like the purpose of this book was to get us ready for things to come. If you're a fan of the series, you'll want to read it.
Darker, spookier and more complex than the previous two, this was the first one I didn't really want to put down. ;)

This book, Kitty takes a Holiday by Carrie Vaughn, carries the story forward, and shows Kitty, maybe growing up a little bit. After the events of the second book, its seems like Kitty might be gathering confidence instead of running scared. Yet, with the third installment of the series she is hiding out in a cabin surrounded by woods. It seems to be a step backwards but considering the toll of what happened in Washington it makes sense she needs a break. A major theme of the book is that you can't run from your problems, which Kitty faces nightly, fighting against going wolf and not coming back. Night after night she escapes to the forest, the wolf gaining ground. Blood on her doorstep helps her overcome the ease of just running off.
Someone is leaving torn animals, covered in blood on her doorstep, sending Kitty into her cabin calling the cops. There is no scent around the animals for her to pick up, and she didn't hear a thing the night before, leaving Kitty with nothing to go on. Yet, when she goes into town it is clear that people don't want her there, giving a feel of prejudice and a ring of racism against her since she is a werewolf. Cormac comes to town bringing his own problems into her cabin, along with an injured Ben, Kitty's lawyer. The problem of the dead animals, sounds like a curse to him and he becomes involved.
Carrie Vaughn kept me captivated until the very end. Anger and sadness are a big part of this book, but I couldn't put it down. A big plot point is where we as readers finally find out about Cormac and who he is. Another big point of this book is that Kitty's pack grows and shrinks in this book, I want to say more but I don't want to spoil the book. This book is a stand alone book, but the two prior books are also very well written books. I personally, can't wait to read the next book in the series, Kitty and the Silver Bullet.

This book really should have just been encompassed in the last story, as they're all tied together. If you liked the 2nd Kitty Norville story, then you must read what happens in this one.
The pace in this book was a little slower than the previous ones. But I did enjoy it and I'm assuming that it will tie in very well with the next one.

Definitely a different ending then I expected, but a really good continuation of the series-which are going on my 'keeper' list!

After her mother and the rest of the world learns that she is a werewolf, Kitty takes a vacation in a quiet mountain cabin to regroup. However, the locals do not take kindly to having a werewolf in their midst, and cast spells involving grisly remains to drive her out. Meanwhile, Cormac brings their lawyer Ben to see Kitty because Ben has been turned into a werewolf also and desperately needs a pack. Cormac finds himself in serious legal trouble, while his attorney struggles to not turn into a wolf in court.
Kitty Takes a Holiday is a fine return to form after Kitty Goes to Washington, which I found boring. Some interesting characters are introduced, and Kitty finds herself in a love triangle. The ending is something of a cliff-hanger; can't wait to read the next one.

To say that Kitty took a holiday is funny once you read the book. Obviously the title was being a little sarcastic! I will say this one thing, poor Cormac! I really like him and well, you will see what happens to him and Ben, her lawyer, in this book. BIG changes for both!!!
