Eloisa James has done it again. A Kiss At Midnight is one of my favorite novels by her so far. She definitely has a little magic up her sleeve to make this twist of the 'cinderella' fairytale. She gave us Kate, with the perfect personality to play the cinder-girl. Gabriel, is everything a prince is suppose to be and so much more. Both loveable to readers and destined to be together. Thank you Eloisa for bringing these characters into existence and putting them down on a page for all of us to read!

Nary a negative in this little gem of a story, not even the "evil step-sister" is evil. All the characters are rather endearing, from a canine toothsome threesome to a dyspeptic lion ... what's not to love?

So much lighthearted fun that I couldn't set it down, just read it straight through. Although not nearly my favorite from Eloisa James, this was truly a fun romp.

I usually stay away from re-told fairy tales. I already know the story, so what's the point? This one is a delightful exception! I loved that Kate (aka Cinderella) is not the hesitant, shy miss the tale seems to imply but a wonderfully witty (sometimes laugh-out-loud-funny) heroine stuck in a less than desirable position and making the most out of it. I wasn't sold on the scene where Kate waits in the Prince's room while he plays court to his betrothed, it just didn't fit her character. But, with that exception, it was a light, very funny, read that just might make me change my outlook on fairy tales!

When her stepsister needs a stand-in at her betrothal ball, Kate Daltry is forced by her stepmother to take her sister's place. There she meets Gabriel, an impoverished young prince who needs a rich bride to support his run-down castle and wayward relatives. Even though he is drawn to Kate, Gabriel must marry the princess that his brother has picked for him.

This is a fun retelling of Cinderella. I thought the first couple of chapters were choppy and wasn't sure where the story was going. But this book is full of eccentric characters, a trio of Maltese known as "the rats", and a hilarious Godmother named Henry. Don't be put off by the modern language in this story...just ignore it. It's a fairy tale. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

I enjoyed this retelling of Cinderella. Like every historical, it is predictable (but isn't that part of the reason we love them? Well, most/some of them!) I enjoyed the journey and HEA.

I bought this after one of the authors I follow gave it a rave review. I am so glad I did! I had never read Ms. James' work before, but now I'm going to dive in head first to the rest of her works.

This book is a retelling/reinvention of the Cinderella fairy tail. Cinderella's name in this book is Kate, and Kate has to pretend to be her step-sister since her stepsister has found herself in a compromising situation with her betrothed, and the only way she can marry him is if he gets permission from his cousin, the prince.

Well, needless to say, since Kate has been working as a servant in her own home for several years, she is discovered, and she and the prince manage to fall in love.

This book is charming, witty, and the sex scenes will make you weak in the knees. Ms. James makes her scenes so intimate, and so romantic, it just makes you want to sigh. The book is also really funny. All of her characters have their own wit, and reading Kate and Gabriel's (the prince) bantering was one of my favorite parts.

This book is a definite must-read. I finished it in just a few hours, and I will definitely be reading it again!
