What an interesting book! The fact that Chandernagor could put together a book from the letters to and from Madam de Maintenon is fascinating. What a life this woman led! Born in a jail, growing up in numerous houses and becoming the wife of King Louis XIV. Life in that French era was difficult to say the least. How she survived to die of old age (I'm assuming) is amazing. The books give one an in depth look into life of the era and the political intrigue and issues of the time. I love stories with women heroines.
