I read this book both before and after I was lucky enough to spend some time in the British Isles. It was a great way to think about places to see and a wonderful reminder of the fun we had.

Well, I'll say this about Paul Theroux, he doesn't look for the silver lining that doesn't exist. Sort of a gloomy look at Great Britain. It could use a good map.
He sticks to the coastline, takes a lot of trains, he seems to love trains in all of his books.
