This is the first book I have read by Julie Garwood. Excellent plot, with good, believable characters. An FBI typist, Avery, joins up with a renegade covert operations guy, and together they track a killer who has kidnapped three women, one of whom is the woman's aunt. I plan to read more books by this author.
Helpful Score: 1
A fast paced read. Why were 3 women kidnapped on the way to a health spa?Why were they left in a house wired to explode if they tried to escape? Why was someone trying to kill the niece of one of them?Intersting story line.
Helpful Score: 1
Thoroughly enjoyed this, as I do all of Garwood's books. This was a good one. It held my interest and was hard to put down. Read in two days as I just *had* to know what happened!

I've been very disappointed with Julie Garwood's contemporary romance/thrillers. With the change in time, it seems she's lost the complexity of story and character development. Honestly, this book is written simply, without complex sentences, and it drove me crazy. Didn't finish it.

Great Book!
Great suspense and romance. This is one of Julie Garwood's best.
Didn't like it, didn't finish it, didn't care how it turned out.
Highly improbable plot but a fun, quick read.
I really enjoy her books
Very good suspenseful novel with twists and turns all the way to the end. A touch of romance with a strong female lead.
Avery, raised by her aunt, is the daughter of a sociopath who's trying to kill her. Good read.

I really enjoyed this thriller. If you like crime analysis and psycho mad killers, then this book is for you!
A great mystery with hot romance
*** FBI crime analyst must figure out what happened to her beloved aunt. Great thriller.
This is a typical female book - some mystery, some romance. An easy read.
I enjoyed it overrall. It took a little to get into but then it kicked into gear. I'm currently finishing the rest of the series.
I loved this book! Couldn't put it down!
I liked this bit of brain candy well enough, I suppose. It's the kind of book I leave on my patio and when I go out there to chill, I grab the book and read. It was certainly not "unputdownable" but it amused me when I picked it up. I liked the storyline and mystery plot, though I found few of the characters very likable. The dialogue seemed stilted to the point that I thought "No one TRULY speaks like that, do they?"
It wasn't so awful that I wanted that few hours of my life back; but not a book I'd recommend. I may try another Garwood book to see if this was a one-off as far as juvenile dialogue and a plethora of annoying characters. I've read worse. I've read LOTS better. So many books. So little time.

Killjoy is a pretty good book. What gives is 4 stars is the lack of tension between the 2 until the middle of the book. Great mystery and once the tension was there, it was good. Avery was tough and a true match for John Paul. It was fast paced and a very enjoyable read
enjoyed this book
it held your intreast right to the end
Enjoyable, catches you and holds your interest.
A little slow to start but as always action packed and the good guys win out...a loose end, I think, that may have been better resolved.
"Intriguing...definitely one of [Garwood's] best."-The Globe and Mail

Very good reading. Didn't want to put it down. Julie Garwood keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end.
Great book
Avery Delaney had a tough childhood. As an infant, her mother abandoned her. Then when the grandmother who took care of her died violently, Avery was shot and nearly died. Now an adult, Avery has planned to meet up with her aunt in Colorado for a spa vacation. But when she arrives, she learns that her aunt has cancelled. Knowing her Aunt Carrie would have contacted her, Avery suspects something is wrong.
John Paul Renard is at the same spa. He has been searching for a contract killer named Monk and has learned that he is working in the area. When John Paul realizes that Avery's aunt is missing, he believes she may be Monk's next victim. Avery and John Paul decide to work together. A phone call from Monk's partner makes them sure they're on the right track. Carrie and two other women were kidnapped and are being held in a remote location. Now it's up to John Paul and Avery to find Carrie and the other women.
This is a solid romantic suspense with a good plot. I enjoyed the search for the women, but thought the romance between John Paul and Avery was just OK. My rating: 4 Stars.

very suspenseful
First time I've read this author and really enjoyed it!
Contemporary romantic suspense. Very good.
Very good like most of her books. Suspenceful and intriguing.
This book is part of the Buchanan sibling series. All have been very good books. The Buchanan books are: "Heartbreaker" (Nick), "Mercy" (Theo), "Murder List" (Alec), "Slow Burn" (Dylan), & "Shadow Dance" (Jordan). There is also an intersecting character story involving the brother of Michelle from Theo's story. "Killjoy" comes after "Mercy".
One of Garwoods' best. Both my hubby and I liked this one.
Loved this book, very exciting!
Good read, even the 2nd time around!
This book is both suspense and suspected romance. Good easy reading.
