This has a very strong female protagonist. I ended up reading this twice. The first time was a couple years ago and I wasn't sure how I felt about her. I'd forgotten and read it again. The second time I liked the heroine better. The first time I had a hard time with her choice to distance herself from her parents - especially her mother, but this time I had to agree I would have felt as betrayed as she did. She was gang-raped while in the armed forces and there was a trial, and the guys all stuck together and she lost and had to leave the service. Her mother, a judge, felt she had to abide by the results of the legal trail and did not side with her daughter. Now she teaches self defense and works as security at a bar where illegal drugs are being sold and she ends up a target of the sellers. Good story
