The third and final part is The Kill, and I am pleased the author has sustained the quality, pace and taught suspense of the two previous books in this trilogy. I liked the way the characters Rowan, (The Prey), Miranda (The Hunt) and Olivia (The Kill) were all connected, yet, each story can be read as a stand alone novel and make perfect, albeit chilling, sense!
I suspect a huge amount of research spanning the entire trilogy has been undertaken, from forensic science, to the American prison system, which shows in Allison Brennan's writing skill. She really appears to get inside the mind of a murderer like you would expect a professional to do!
Without doubt, the heat in this romance tops the rest. I genuinely felt that, despite all they go through, the two characters, Olivia and Zack, just "clicked" and were meant to be together; but does it all turn out right in the end? After all, what makes Allison Brennan's work so exciting is the mixture of ecstasy and torment she puts her characters through!

He wore gloves. Gathering his supplies, he slipped out of the truck. There was a mailbox partly covered in ivy. He knew this was the best plae to take her. He pretended to mail a letter, just in case anyone happened by, then slid into his hiding place. He heard the flop-flop-flop of decorated spokes before he saw her. Olivia's mother eventually commits suicide. Her father becomes a shell of a man. Olivia is left to pick herself up and try to move on the best she can. Little Olivia St. Martin grows up and becomes the director of trace evidence for the FBI. Olivia believes she has achieved success. Her life is neat and orderly. Then the man she sent to prison is released based on DNA testing. He was not Missy's killer.
Zack Travis is a Seattle detective who has a serial killer on his hands. This serial killer kidnaps beautiful blonde little girls, sexually assaults them and then dumps their bodies in a public place for someone else to find. He doesn't want the Feds help on his case but he wants to stop this madman even more.
Zack and Olivia work hard to catch the creep who has killed over 30 little girls. On the way to justice, Olivia comes to mean so much more to Zack than just another cop. But can Olivia let down her guard enough to realize true love is knocking?

But they were wrong and an innocent man has sat in prison for 34 years while the real killer has been free all that time. This was my 2nd favorite in the series. Both Zack and Olivia are haunted by a past neither one of them could control. This was a nice book to escape to because the good guys always win, but you're never quite sure until the end.

This is the 3rd book I read by Brennan (The Prey and Hunt was the first two) This is another great thriller........looking forward to more from Brennan
