Silver-eyed Irissa, the Torloc seeress, travels the Gates between worlds with her companion, Kendric the Wrathman, to return to her home world, Edanvant. The Edanvant she finds is a strife torn planet, a family that is no longer a family, a people divided against itself.
Finorian, the only other living seeress, is threatened by Orvath, whose heart is frozen from the scars of an icy battle. Orvath and the amulets which give his men their own magical powers, have turned the Torlocs away from Finorian. Orvath will never give in to Finorian. Finorian will never give in to Orvath. Only Irissa can break the deadlock to restore Edanvant to peace.
