More twists and turns than a pile of spaghetti! One of Cussler's best yet. I tried to finish it in 1 day but fell asleep about 1 am, and finished it the next. I wanted to know what happened THAT badly! Kidnaps and captures all over the place/world: a kidnapped child, a captured (former) GI, then another kidnapped woman, then Juan and MacD are captured by the evil Burmese military, then Linda is captured, and aNOther child kidnapped. The action never stops. And there is good description so you can 'see' the action unfolding, especially the rescues. Of course super duper technology helps he good guys. A terrific read that to use the cliche' is 'nonstop action right till the end.'

Another fine adventure tale of Cabrillo and the good ship Oregon.

From inside cover: Jungles come in many forms. There are the steamy rain forests of the Burmese highlands. There are the lies and betrayals of the world of covert operations. And there are the dark and twisted thoughts of a man bent on near-global domination. To pull off their latest mission, Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon must survive them all. A devastating new weapon unleashed in thirteenth-century China...a daring rescue in the snowbound mountains along the Afghanistan/Pakistan border...a woman gone missing in the jungles of northern Thailand and Myanmar...for Cabrillo and his crew, all of these events will come together-leading to the greatest threat against U.S. security that the world has ever known

My Review:
Every book of the Oregon Files is a thrilling adventure and The Jungle was no different. it is a fast paced plot with plenty of action which makes for a page turner until the end. I really enjoy all the characters in this series and the addition of Lawless with his military capabilities will be a great reward to the crew. It was exciting to visit China again and I enjoyed the story of the crystals and their use in 1281 A.D. I look forward to the next book in the series and I would highly recommend this series to those who love adventure thrillers.

I hadn't read one of the Oregon Files novels for a while. I always enjoy these books and am not sure why it took me so long to get to this one (I have had it on my shelves for over three years). Anyway, this one did not disappoint and was pretty much non-stop action from start to finish. The novel goes from a rescue of a young boy from terrorists in Afghanistan to another supposed rescue of a young woman in the jungles of Myanmar (Burma). And then on to a vast security threat to the U.S. by a megalomaniac Islam terrorist. There are several good twists in the storyline and all is not as it first seems but of course, Juan Cabrillo and his team from the Oregon save the day as usual! A good one!
