JULY 2023 postcard/notecard swap

Come join in our Summertime fun postcard/notecard swap!  

Pick out a postcard from your previous travels, hometown, any type of postcards, etc.  If you have no postcards, send out notecards or homemade cards.  

Please sign up now through Wednesday, June 28th.  PM me your name and address.  

I will post and PM matches on Thursday, June 29th.  

You have the whole month of July to mail out the postcards.  

I do ask that each participant post within this thread both when you have mailed and received your cards. Thank you! 

Group of 3 or 4 people to send out depending on how many signed up.  

I will send everyone the entire list with your specific group at the top.   

Please do not feel obligated to send to all.  If you want to send to more that is fine but optional.  

Let’s bring cheers to all participating and everyone is welcome to join in.

I set a personal goal of writing at least 1000 words every day. In the next couple of years, my brother and I plan to publish a book of essays. The following is what I wrote today:

"A postcard is the passport of the heart." This quote, attributed to poet and novelist Emily Dickenson, perfectly captures the essence of what makes postcards so special. Unlike other forms of communication, postcards are often sent as tokens of affection or as a way to share a special moment with someone far away.

Postcards have been around for over a century, and they continue to endure as a beloved form of communication. For instance, a postcard from a loved one on vacation can evoke a warm feeling of closeness and connectedness that can't be replicated with any other form of communication. Whether it's a scenic snapshot from a vacation or a handwritten message from a loved one, postcards have a unique ability to transport us to another time and place.

In an age where digital communication has become the norm, there's something refreshing about receiving a physical postcard in the mail. It's a tangible reminder that someone took the time to think of you, to jot down a few words, and to send a little piece of themselves across the miles.

It's like finding a message in a bottle on the beach- unexpected, and with a hint of mystery and surprise. So the next time you're traveling or simply want to brighten someone's day, consider sending a postcard. It may be a small gesture, but it has the power to make a big impact on the heart.
