One of Burke's best.
Really good Dave Robicheaux book. I loved it.
Dave Robicheaux in another of the suspenseful, gritty thrillers set in New Iberia, Louisiana. It's not your run of the mill mystery, and probably not everybody's cup of tea. But James Lee Burke is unique among thriller writers.

Another beautifully written book about Dave Robicheaux. This one seems to have more violence in it than some of the others. The character is so well drawn and his inner feelings so strongly described that he seems to be an extension of the author, Burke. I highly recommend it.

This is a great read. Keeps you glued to the pages all the way through
This story was as good as all his others.I found however, that you must keep a dictionary next to you when reading his prose.
Another good one with lots of ups and downs.

Police detective Dave Robichaux in New Iberia, Louisiana doesn't buy the obvious solution to some vicious crime but keeps digging, even when lots of dangerous people want him to stop. His buddy Clete Purcel is on hand to watch his back and take up with a few lovely ladies while he's at it.
Legion Guidry is a scary character, the embodiment of evil, cold calculating truly sadistic evil.
Love the depictions of the backwoods blues clubs and deep country Louisiana settings.
A definite recommendation for a satisfying, colorful read.
