Oh wow, this gender flip retelling of Jane Eyre totally works while it artfully blends two literary classics. It's got the spooks, the dark atmosphere, and an imaginative backstory. It's a gothic thriller foremost with just a taste of romance, while familiar characters are shuffled around in this version. But if you think it would be predictable, you're in for an unexpected treat. I think Charlotte Bronte would be impressed. 4.5 stars.
