Great fun read. Heroine is a rich girl, born on Friday the 13th, who thinks she's unlucky, and she's lost a father and two elderly husbands. Now her business manager stole all her money and she has to find a job. Unbeknownst to her, her godfather arranges for a P.I. to hire her after she keeps getting fired due to lack of experience, since she wants to be independent and show everyone she really can take care of herself. She's quirky and flaky, but also intelligent in her own way, and drives the hero crazy when she tries to assist with his investigations. This book has so many funny scenes, including some with the heroine's best friend who is gay and gives her advice. Everyone likes her and tries to look out for her, including the hero, but she's going to show them all she's just not just a little rich girl who can't fend for herself. Lots of chemistry between the heroine and hero, and kind of like a madcap comedy, very enjoyable.

Really cute, fast read! Very enjoyable!
This is book 1 of 3 of the Friends & Lovers series by Beth Ciotta. Although part of the series, I think each book has its own characters and storylines. This was a very quick read and basically a fun book to read on an airplane or on the beach. There is a mixture of mystery and romance, and although some of the plots are predictable it was still a fun novel. I would have preferred the characters moved onto the next book, but I just pulled the 2nd book out to read and it doesn't seem that they transfer over.
Great book all and all but some parts bored me just a bit, but not enough to make it pointless to read.
