I've seen Priscilla Shirer in person, and this book is obviously from her very early years, and does not match her current message. This book has a lot more of her father's message in it (he is Dr. Tony Evans) and I think she was still trying to find her voice as a writer at this stage of her career.
This book is a huge help to your self-esteem. Shirer writes a lot about a woman's worth, and that all women should see themselves as "jewels in God's crown." However, as a woman who believes in equal rights, the second half of this book did not set well with me at all.
Overall, I rate this book as a 3 out of 5. There are some wonderful stories in it, but her father's words leaking through made it a non-keeper for me.
If you get the chance, I cannot stress this enough, GO SEE HER IN PERSON!! Shirer is a gifted speaker, and her event this year was life-changing for me!
