If you like sexy paranormal stories with a dash of mythology, then Gena Showalter will always be your girl. With JEWEL OF ATLANTIS, she's taken all the things that readers love-vampires, demons, nymphs, sacred tomes, obscure jewels, and queens of evil-and turned it into a love story that transcends the bonds of time.

Grayson James might be human, but he's also a member of the super-secret Otherworld Bureau of Investigation-and he's just been ordered to travel to Atlantis and find the elusive Jewel of Dunamis, which the recently discovered ancient scroll Ra Dracus talks about. Said to be able to overcome any enemy by foretelling the future and acting as a sort of lie-detector test to determine whether someone's lying or telling the truth, the OBI doesn't want the Jewel falling into the wrong hands. So Gray has been ordered to rescue the Jewel and bring it back, or to destroy it.

Unfortunately, as soon as Gray enters Atlantis he finds himself battling all types of nasties-vampires, demons, you name it. If it weren't for the woman speaking inside his head, he'd be dead meat. Fortunately, the unknown woman, who insists he call her Jewel, leads him away from danger, and to her rescue from the Queen of Demons, Marina.

Jewel is a woman who's part goddess and part prophet, but she's also a pawn that the city of Atlantis has used for almost forever in its never-ending struggle for power. She needs the help of the human Gray to escape from her captors, but then she becomes intrigued by the man who arouses feelings in her she never felt possible. Although she knows that she's the elusive Jewel of Dunamis, she has no desire to let Gray know this-not at first. But as her feelings turn towards love, and enemies seek to destroy them both, Jewel realizes that she has no choice but to reveal the truth, and the prophecy that she's known for years that foretells their destruction.

JEWEL OF ATLANTIS is an engaging read, filled with exciting characters and a highly descriptive underwater city. It's also sexy, funny, and a great read. If you like paranormal stories, you'll thoroughly enjoy Ms. Showalter's latest release.

I really enjoyed this book. It was fun and really - to me - gave the reader a good insight into what Gena Showalter's world of Atlantis is really like. The characters were awesome - and it made me happy to see characters from the first book in there too!

A very imaginative, steamy romance. A lot of mythical creatures, and a lot of witty humor!

I liked this book better than Heart of the Dragon (book 1). I think this is because book 1 of a series always has to set the stage (so to speak) and gets bogged down in extraneous details.

The mystery of Atlantis has always fascinated me and even though this series puts a different spin on the legend, I still loved it and read it in only 3 hours.

Wow! Ms. Showalter just keeps getting better. The world of Atlantis is filled with all kinds of unbelievable creatures that we all know are myths, or are they? Read these books to find out about the world of Atlantis, the caretakers of this beautiful world and the brave women they encounter. You won't be able to put them down till finished. Then you can't wait for the next one, so order in advance because you know you are gonna want to pick up as soon as you finish this one!

Gray James is sent to Atlantis through a portal to find the Jewel of Dunamis. His employer, the Otherworld Bureau of Investigations, discovered a book detailing the many dangers native to Atlantis. Unfortunately for Gray none of them took the book too seriously. After being hunted by vampires and demons, Gray knows that all the information was correct. When he's in a tight situation someone suddenly speaks to him in his mind and helps him make it out alive. Gray isn't sure whether he can trust the woman who speaks to him, but he makes a bargain to save her anyway.

I read this book quickly and found it very readable, but I can't really say that I'll ever want to reread it. I found both of the characters very shallow. Right from the start Gray comes off as a bit of an old fashioned control freak. He always has to be the one to save the day and if it becomes necessary to accept help from someone he beats himself up over it to an irritating degree. Jewel comes off a bit like a fourteen year old. She is insanely naive (even through her experiences seeing the surface) and throws herself at Gray again and again even when he is hot and cold with her.

It was frustrating watching Gray come up with excuse after excuse of why he couldn't be with Jewel. I personally thought the whole living in two different worlds excuse was good enough, but obviously not. For a while there every couple pages he would come up with something new and be totally serious about it. It really added melodrama to the story. I was also really frustrated that Jewel losing an ability with Gray was brought up but it was never really explained why that happened.

Even though I didn't enjoy the characters that much I did enjoy the world. I liked the take on Atlantis and all the explanations of the beings that lived there. There was a lot of action in this book and it was very fast paced.

Honestly when compared with her Lords of the underworld series, this was very Neanderthalean. Though it was better than Heart of Dragon, but not by much.

I read this not long after it came out and liked the premise but I remember not being that impressed. It was ok but got a bit tiresome.

This was my least favorite of series. I didn't really feel anything for the characters. I really like this series but didn't care that much for this book.

Showalter's world of Atlantis is a great one, filled with many races and creatures and full of story possibilities. This book was really more about the world than the romance, since the romance felt like it was a done deal when the book started. There is tons of action and many interesting characters, so while the romantic tension wasn't there, other stuff kept my attention from wandering. So-so romance, but super addition to the series.
