Eleven stories with a backdrop of the Gulf Coast, all told in Burke's highly eclectic style. I liked the character changes in, "Why Bugsy Siegel Was A Friend of Mine" and the sense of actually sitting on a rooftop during Hurricane Katrina waiting for a rescue in "Jesus Out to Sea". My husband and I sat out Hurricane Rita a few weeks later-Burke after Katrina blew through, but thankfully, in central Louisiana. Burke has won two Edgar Awards.
