Paranormal erotic romance by Sarah McCarty. Second in the Shadow Wranglers series, follow up to "Caleb." Vampire Jared Johnson comes upon a female vamp being threatened by some Weres. He rescues her, but he can't be sure if she is from the Johnson's enemies, The Sanctuary, or not. Raisa is an old, but seems to be an ill-equiped vampire. Jared is attracted to the small, blond, beautiful vamp, but doesn't trust her. Raisa tries in vain to ditch Jared, as she has her own agenda, to save her friend held by The Sanctuary. The story is fair, the sex scenes are tepid. I liked Sarah's character, but Jared got on my nerves. The book is fair.

I'm a huge fan of the Hells 8 series but this series didnt really do it for me. I usually enjoy anything vampire....

I liked Caleb's book better. But still a good read. Excited for the next one - but that doesn't seem to be coming anytime soon.

I really enjoyed continuing the series. I am looking forward to reading more about the other brothers.
I recommend this as a "good" read.

Okay, how do you classify a vampire cowboy western with a contemporary setting [that you see very little of] and includes werewolves and evil supernatural scientists set to take over the world and not caring how many people they destroy on the way? If you figure it out, let me know.
Enjoyable read with strong similarities to her Hell's Eight books and containing many of the same themes: protection of women, family, honor... and stubbornness raised to the level of art.
Warning - there is a cliff hanger ending. Jared and Raisa's story is resolved but you do not know how the climactic rescue scene turns out. This is bad enough but I don't think the sequel is even written...
I haven't read Caleb [but certainly plan to] but order didn't seem wildly important.
Shadow Wranglers
1. Caleb (2009)
2. Jared (2010)

Though I liked Caleb better, I enjoyed this one a lot.. (could be I liked the man Caleb better then the man Jared..)
Jared made me mad more then once, he really didn't get what "free will" means and for me, that doesn't sit well, other then that it was worth the time.

Paranormal erotic romance ~ strong protective men again. I did like the story, but the banter between Raisa and Jared gave me a huge headache - her character is very annoying.
great read. follow up to Caleb which was awesome. can't wait for #3.
