This is not a book for learning or reading Japanese. The book contains no katakana, hiragana, or kanji (the three writing systems used in Japan) guides save for one page on important signs. The book spends 10 pages on facts and history and 47 pages on phrases. There are numerous black and white photographs of Japan interspersed.
