Teri, growing up, I always had a big breakfast. But as I became an adult and then starting dieting, I stopped eating breakfast except on special occasions, like going out to eat breakfast. But it does seem that if I eat breakfast then I'm constantly wanting to eat all day, and it's usually something salty or creamy that I want. I could eat Mac & cheese every day, but I'd weigh 300 lbs in no time if I did. So I try to hold off eating til late morning, early afternoon. Doesn't always work out that way, but I try. Margaret, I haven't been trying the exercises yet. I'm having issues with my back right now so am having to be really careful not to over do. Heather, good luck with your schedule. Sounds like you'll be pretty busy. |

Okay, here's some logic thats questionanle.......I have a roast beef in the slow cooker. It smells divine! Unfortunately, I usually toss reason to the wind and stuff myself with hot fresh roast beef, slave to my olfactory senses. Today, I got some wonton soup when I went to town. My rationale is that with wontons available, I won't touch the roast at my most vulnerable, when its coming out of the pot. Works for me! Last Edited on: 1/17/25 12:56 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Teri, that wouldn't work for me AT ALL!! I'd have to have both. I love wonton soup and I love roast beef. So it would be a win-win for me on the food but not on the calories or sodium. |

This past week has been a struggle, food wise, and the numbers on the scale are showing it. I'm back up to 239.4. I'm really hoping this week will be better and I see the numbers heading back down. |

I broke my streak because the app got hung up, but it gives a rest day every so often, anyway, so I think I'm ok. I really broke almost all of my streaks, but I can live with it. Every time I break a streak I get a little bit of information on how to make the streak easier to keep, so that's good! I did gain a little weight, but I just am not getting our much. It is too cold, so I'm just working and staying home. I'm getting better at prepping food for taking to work, but I'm not where I need to be. |

You're still doing great Margaret and it's all a learning curve. I haven't been doing well at all and my weight is really showing it. I'm back up to 241.4 today. If that's not a wake-up call I don't know what is. |

Maybe my holiday glut is over. Down to 201.5 today. My nephrologist won't prescribe Ozempic again because I'm not diabetic anymore and it hasn't been approved for use with kidney disease. She suggests I see my primary for it. I'm not going to. I am not willing for my PCP to start following me for weight loss, a whole new set of hoops to jump through. I'll do it the slow way,on my own.. Once winter eases up, I think I'll be more active outside. |

I feel really bad. I accidentally "burned" Meggie with rubbing alcohol. She has a chronic skin infection. Schnauzer bumps. I've been putting drops of alcohol on individual "zits" which seems to help heal them. But I didn't realize the difference between those spots and the spot I put alcohol on today is that today I put it on tender skin. The older spots are tougher skin. So far I have put warm compresses on it and now ointment. Later I'll soak it again. The area is bright red which I think means burned. It'll probably take time to improve but I'm watching it closely. Not time to call the vet yet. Its late in the day, the day after a holiday. I wonder if I should wipe off the ointment and put cool cloths on it. She doesn't seem uncomfortable. Teri, you'll get it off. Just take it a day at a time. Sorry to hear about Meggie. Hope the area heals quickly and doesn't require seeing a vet. My numbers are heading back down this morning. Cutting way back on the eating is helping, which is expected. It's going to be interesting to see just how much I manage over the next 3 weeks since I can't go out and buy anything else and just have to eat what I have in the apt. Having car issues so having to hold on to every dime in case I have to pay more than deductable for repair. But waiting until my next check comes so I'll have more money to work with, just in case. So in the meantime, I can't go anywhere and I'm having to cut way back on the eating to make sure I have enough groceries in the apt. for the next 3 weeks. |

I'm breaking steaks all the time. But I'm learning! I'm staying steady at 241, but gradually increasing exercise. I leave tomorrow for Indiana, so that will be a sedentary day. |

I have to kick my Werthers habit if I'm to lose weight. When I lost the 50 pounds, I ate no candy. So whatever else I do, the candy habit stops. |

I'm gald Meggie is better now, Teri.
God and the universe told me today to do an Orange Theory workout, which I haven't done in quite a long time. My husband came with me, and it was a great workout, but I think the reason I was guided there today was because of the conversation after the workout. It was about protein, and one of the other members talked about chicken bone broth as a great source. We make a soup every week and we often use broth, but not bone broth. Apparently bone broth is superior in nutrition in every way. I also read about making it yourself. Sometimes we get a rotisserie chicken from Safeway, and we can use the scraps to make our own bone broth with carrots, celery, onion, etc. This is right up our alley and something we will definitely do. I also will just buy some to have another good source of protein available. Last Edited on: 1/24/25 4:28 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Heather, bone broth is a good source. I used to make my own all the time but since I pretty much stopped doing any regular cooking I don't make it any more. Margaret, I just haven't been able to get into doing the Hybrid app exercises. But I'll check it out again over the weekend. |

I'm down 2.2 lbs from last Sunday but still up from my lowest of the month, but I'm only a pound from that number and still lower than my Jan. 1st number, so I'm doing great, IMHO. Hopefully it's going to continue going down. How did everyone else do for the week? |

Holy moly, is January almost over. Another year flying by! Vicki, thanks for asking. I did pretty well last week. I'm still getting situated into my new semester and trying to decide what routine will work best. Tomorrow is the first day of Monday classes, so it's my first full week of what will be my new normal. Mondays and Tuesdays are my busy days. |

203 today. I caved to stress yesterday. I started up with a new doctor for my bone loss. I had to travel 45 minutes for that. Then I went to the grocery store. I said to heck with it and got some sugar cookies. The political state of America is very distressing to me and I just want to feel secure and happy. That aint gonna happen for awhile. I feel great while I'm eating a sugar cookie. Of course, today I threw the rest of them away. Today, my dad has been gone 2 months. I miss his presence in my daily life. Sorry to be on such a downer today. |

Teri, we all have days like that. And it's too soon since your dad passed for you not to have down days. My Bob has been gone over 3 years now and I still have bad days. I don't think that ever goes away completely. I got my car back yesterday after it was worked on. It wasn't covered by the warranty but they gave me a break and only charged me what I could pay, knocking off $125.00 of the bill. Found out that with the Kia, this issue is reaccurring every year or so on all Kia's, but I also found out from my son thru a YOUTUBE video, that it's an easy fix that I can actually do myself for about $30.00. I won't attempt it myself but I will go somewhere else and get it done if it happens again, where it won't cost as much. |

Health scare today. Saw a few flashing lights in the corner of my vision last night and thought it was just due to tiredness, but there were a few more this morning. Google said go to ophthalmologist. Called. They said come in now. I did. Very nice doctor. After dilation and lots of bright lights shining in my eye... "Flashing lights in the eye," also known as "photopsia," are typically caused by a natural process called posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) where the gel-like substance inside the eye pulls on the retina as it separates, creating the sensation of flashes of light; however, this can sometimes be a sign of a more serious condition like a retinal tear, so it's important to consult a doctor if you experience sudden or frequent flashes, particularly accompanied by new floaters in your vision. So they found the place where the gel had separated, but were able to determine there was no retinal tear, but that few hours were stressful! yesterday weighed in at 245! I knew I had done the vacation eat whatever thing last weekend when I went to IN for a funeral, but... oops! Today 244. Tomorrow physical, we'll see what the doctor says! |
